As you might expect, major events such as international film festivals are thin on the ground at this time of the year. However, and clutch of cities as far flung as Kathmandu, Dubai, Marrakech and Nassau have thrown their collective hats into the ring, to give film buffs in their home towns a look at the latest cinematic offerings from around the world.

Nassau, Bahamas International Film Festival

1 December 2011 until 4 December 2011.

Bahamas International Film Festival begins in the Bahamas. The festival has held Spirit of Freedom as one of its themed categories since it's very first festival, seven years ago and will be showcasing 11 films in the Spirit of Freedom Narrative and Documentary categories this year.

Marrakech International Film Festival

Marrakech International Film Festival begins in Marrakech in Morocco. This is an event dedicated to the seventh art bringing together well known international actors.

Dubai International Film Festival begins in Dubai in the UAE. The event is entitled 'Bridging Cultures. Meeting Minds'.

Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival

7 December 2011 until 12 December 2011.

Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival begins in Kathmandu in Nepal. The event will be screening some of the most recent films about mountain people, sports, environment, cultures and societies from various corners of the world.
